We Listen and Support
The CCTS team is led by Kat Isaacson, an ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist currently licensed to practice in the states of New Mexico, California, Colorado, and Hawaii. Kat earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of New Mexico, and her Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of California, Davis. Kat and her team have a strong interest in supporting people throughout the lifespan with articulation, language, and social communication.
New Mexico: In-person and virtual services are available throughout the state.
California, Colorado, Florida, and Hawaii are served virtually only at this time.
Families are responsible for providing the referral from the primary care provider and any prior authorization required by their insurance and/or their employer if it is an employer-sponsored plan. We will provide the information you need to obtain the prior authorization.
Note: If you are seeking gender affirming voice training services for yourself or your teen, and you've found your way to this website, please visit: www.gendervoicecenter.org/get-started instead to initiate those services with our GAV team.
Hesitant About Virtual Services?
Kat and her team have experience working as travel SLPs in various New Mexico school districts, which helps inform their approach to providing speech therapy for K-12 students. Virtual speech services are implemented via sessions that are co-led between therapist and student, implementing fun, interesting, and challenging games, reading aloud, writing/typing, and embedding the student's highly-preferred online activities and interests into the therapy itself. For example, we may use clips from animated videos the students are familiar with to work on vocabulary, articulation, and perspective taking related to social communication and soft skills. For older students, sessions can include support for completing homework and other assignments in order to provide services that build therapeutic techniques into the student's functional everyday activities.
The CCTS team takes the perspective that it's our job to get the student interested in the session. We typically require little to no parent support during sessions unless parents prefer to join the sessions, which is always welcome. Virtual speech therapy is a fantastic option for families without access to in-person services and/or transportations issues throughout the state. Students with IEPs and 504 Plans as well as students who do not qualify for an IEP but are needing extra support are an excellent fit for virtual speech therapy.
Students with needs related to literacy and/or social communication skills (including meta-language needs) are our speciality and typically do very well with virtual speech therapy. We are passionate about supporting PreK-12 students and making speech therapy services accessible to all.
